BJ has been involved in the training, preparation, nutritional counseling, and rehabilitation of athletes in virtually every sport. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education/Athletic Training (Magna Cum Laude) at Cortland State University before going on to complete his Master’s Degree in Exercise Science with a concentration in Sports Medicine from Ithaca College. While at Ithaca he worked as a graduate assistant at Cornell University, earned his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) accreditation became a NATA Certified Athletic Trainer.

BJ has served on the Athletic Training staff at Cornell University (Graduate Assistant), Harvard University (Athletic Trainer), New England Blazers Major Indoor Lacrosse League (Head Athletic Trainer), Brine Lacrosse Club, and the Boston Red Sox (Strength and Conditioning Coordinator/Athletic Trainer).

BJ was the first Conditioning Coordinator for the Boston Red Sox. He developed, presented, and integrated the in-season and off-season programs for all Minor and Major League players. During Spring Training and the regular season, BJ traveled with the Major League Club and was instrumental in the day-to-day preparation and execution of the organization’s conditioning and rehabilitation programs.

He is a much sought-after speaker and has presented on the following topics; Strength and Conditioning and Baseball; Training the Throwing Shoulder; Sports Nutrition, Supplementation and Ergogenic Aids; Incorporating Optimal Sports Nutrition as a College Athlete; Small Town to the Big Leagues: Professional Development and Career Path Choices in Sports Medicine; and the Myths Associated with Resistance Training and Baseball. His shoulder training article, “Complex Forces,” was published in the September 2009 volume of “ Training and Conditioning” magazine.

BJ is currently a member of the board of advisors for the International Youth Conditioning Association (IYCA) and the Head Athletic Trainer at Pure Performance Training
